Michael Lewis from MCPS spoke about the MCPS calendars day with an emphasis on how instructional days are determined. MCPS is still trying to determine how Calendar feedback will be structured.
The agenda listed the following link for future MCPS Calendar Planning questions http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/calendar/faq.aspx
The September meeting also included Cluster Time where the focus was on the SIP (School Improvement Plan) and event planning. See notes below from Sherlene Lucas.
SIP – All Montgomery County Public Schools must develop or revise an existing School Improvement Plan – SIP based on the Baldrige guided school improvement planning process. A requirement of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 – NCLB Act is for parents to be involved in the development, revision, and evaluation of the SIP.
Parents are an integral part of the school improvement process. Parents are encouraged to assist school staff in the revision of the schools, school improvement plan. For more information about how you can become part of the school improvement process, call the school office.
Pat Price so graciously gave us some highlights of some overview on the direction and how the process works. Be specific regarding the questions that you may need to ask, here are some examples.
Check w/your school and ask how often do they meet so that you can insert yourself of being a part of the process. Check to find out how can you achieve the SIP especially if it not current on not found on the school website
